Who will speak?
Posted: Thursday, March 11, 2010 by Unknown inThis last Wednesday I went to my great-uncles funeral. As it started a man that I did not know got up and started speaking. He told stories of when him and Ron (my great-uncle) were kids and teenagers. They were in each others weddings and now he was speaking at his friends funeral. I really started thinking about this. These guys grew up together, supported each other through rough times and watched out for each others families when needed. How often do you see that now days. I have many people that I would call friends and even more that are good acquaintances but I know very few that I would consider a good friend. A month or two ago I was talking to someone and texting came up. That person proudly proclaimed that "I never text any of my friends first... if they want to talk to me they text me." Hearing this threw me way off. How could you call those people friends if your not interested in how they are doing or how their day is going. Friendship should be a 50/50 trade off. Not that you always have to be talking to that person but you should have some interest in how they are doing. You should be able to share your fights, your victories, and the things that you hate. I think that people get so wrapped up in their day to day life that they forget to look up and look out for others. Is it their insecurity that holds them back? Are they so self oriented that to actually think about someone else is impossible? There are so many good people out there what is it that holds them back to reaching out to others? It kills me how when I have my work uniform on people smile at me and reply when I ask how their day is going but when I'm in normal clothes they act like they don't hear me or like I'm crazy, your lucky if you get a smile. I really don't have an answer to my random rambling besides that fact that God loves and will keep you. It might be that God is doing this to draw us closer to him? May Gods will be done in all of our lives. I know this is a down topic but that's where I'm at in life right now. I said all this to say that: I think I just need a wife. lol Bless God Hallelujah. =)
Love this post! SO true... I wanna make friends that will last a lifetime so they can speak at my funeral hah!! :)
